MAMP& Building a Custom Theme

Hey! I hope someone reads this and feel my pain.

I have been working on learning to  build a custom theme. I was bombing along enjoying the experience when, suddenly, the changes i was making to my theme decided to cough up a dreaded “500” error.

This happened immediately after adding the is_home condition in the header.php. It actually worked once or twice before blowing me out of the water. All of the other themes work. I suspect there is one piece of code I am missing that became imperative to seeing my theme.

I use Coda 2, Codekit, and MAMP as my localhost. I have installed the latest MAMP version and, one again, disabled my local apache as as to use port 80.

Any help would be appreciated!
